Name : Mital Patel
Birthplace : Longview, TX
Métier : Photographer, storyteller, and conservation advocate.

Sources of inspiration : Nature has always been a big one, especially remote and wild places. I’m also constantly inspired by art books, galleries, museums, architecture, and the emotional connection in great design.
Sources of motivation : The urgency to protect what’s disappearing: species, cultures, wild spaces. The belief that visual storytelling can make people feel something, and maybe even take action.
What makes you happy : Being immersed in the wild. Spending unhurried time with animals in their natural environment. A meaningful conversation. Seeing my work spark emotion in someone else.

Into the Abyss
Favorite reads : I gravitate toward books that offer perspective, growth, and a deeper understanding of the world, whether through travel writing, memoirs, or reflections on creativity and purpose. I’m drawn to anything that challenges my thinking or helps me see things from a different perspective.
Favorite tunes : World music is always on rotation: Afrobeats, Latin rhythms, Turkish instrumentals. I love sounds that reflect a sense of place.
Breath of the Earth
Favorite foods : Thai, sushi, Indian, pizza. Anything with bold flavors and a cultural story behind it.
Favorite ways to unwind : Netflix when I need to zone out. Music when I want to shift my energy. Meditation when I want to come back to myself.

Favorite part of living in Dallas : It’s incredibly well-positioned. I can fly almost anywhere in the world. The people here are grounded, and the food scene is underrated in the best way.
Favorite places to travel to : Remote regions of the world: Antarctica, the African savannas, volcanic islands, but also places with deep cultural roots, where stories are carried through generations.
Caretaker’s Touch
Travel tips : Get lost. Wander without an agenda. Eat where the locals eat. Immerse yourself in the community, that’s where the real stories are.
What gets you in a working flow : Music. A spark of inspiration, sometimes from a single photo or reel I see on social media, and space, physical and mental, to focus.

Keeper of Traditions
What are you working on now : I’m working on a fine art photography book that brings together stories from the ends of the Earth: polar regions, African wildlife, and disappearing ecosystems. I’m also planning a major fundraiser for Ol Pejeta Conservancy to support rhino conservation.
Favorite motto / quote : Take action now. Don’t wait for the perfect time. Just begin.
